The Wauwatosa Historical Society is proud to offer a scholarship for graduating seniors in the Wauwatosa Public School District who believe that history lives not only in textbooks, but in the streets, stories, and people of their community.
About the Scholarship
The WHS “All History is Local” Scholarship is awarded annually to one graduating senior from Wauwatosa East and one from Wauwatosa West High School who plan to attend a university or college. It recognizes students who understand that history is not something distant – it is present in the places they inhabit, the people they know, and the stories that define their communities. Preference will be given to candidates who have volunteered for WHS events, projects, or programs, or for another local nonprofit organization.
How to Apply
The link to the application is available on each high school’s website in late December and must be completed by the 2nd Friday of February for the current year. Each application requires an essay submission. Essays should demonstrate why local history matters to the applicant, addressing both what “All History is Local” means to them and a personal experience in which they connected with history at a local level.
