Featuring the Lefeber Collection

August 4, 2023 @ 6:30 pm August 6, 2023 @ 4:00 pm

Please join us for this year’s annual Firefly Art Fair Exhibit, A Visual Journey Through Time, featuring the Lefeber Glass Plate Collection, available for a limited time only.

Explore an assortment of cameras that played a significant role throughout the 20th Century, celebrating the evolution of photography and its lasting impact on preserving our rich history.  Through this lens, you’ll also learn about the Lefeber family, who were pioneers in the development and prosperity of Wauwatosa. The extensive Lefeber Collection of over 2,000 glass plate negatives from the late 1800s to the early decades of the 20th Century is the focus of our exhibit. You will learn how these negatives were made, and how they have been stabilized and saved by the Wauwatosa Historical Society (WHS). The WHS Research Committee has made prints from many of these negatives — and is thrilled to have the means now to show these images to visitors during the Firefly Art Fair.

This special exhibit will be housed inside the Kneeland-Walker House during the Firefly Art Fair. An event ticket to the Firefly Art Fair is required for entry to the exhibit.  Hours are noted below:
