Window Glazing Workshop
November 14 @ 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
A Hands-On Home Education Series Workshop
Original wooden windows are an important part of an older home’s character and craftsmanship. With proper care and maintenance, these windows can continue to serve homeowners for generations.
Join the Wauwatosa Historical Society and Thoughtful Craftsmen, a Milwaukee-based company specializing in historic restoration, for a hands-on workshop exploring the art and care of historic wooden windows.
This three-hour workshop will introduce participants to wooden window anatomy, terminology, and maintenance before diving into traditional window glazing techniques.
You’ll even get to try it yourself! Each participant will practice glazing techniques on their own miniature window and take home their finished project, along with glazing putty and a glazier’s knife.
Whether you’re a homeowner looking to maintain your original windows, a DIY enthusiast interested in traditional building techniques, or simply curious about historic preservation, this workshop offers an opportunity to learn directly from experienced restoration professionals.
What to Know
No previous experience is necessary! Participants should wear closed-toe shoes and clothing suitable for hands-on work. Gloves, eye protection, and aprons will be provided.
This workshop is open to adults ages 18 and older. Space is limited to just 12 participants, so early registration is encouraged.
Registration closes Wednesday, November 11.
This workshop is part of the Wauwatosa Historical Society’s Home Education Series, offering expert-led lectures, practical resources, and hands-on learning opportunities to help homeowners care for and preserve their older homes.
