Nethercut Family Collection

The Nethercut Collection offers a rare glimpse into one of Wauwatosa’s most storied founding families. Jonathan Merriam Warren arrived in October 1838, building the third house in what would become the city and establishing its first grist mill. His wife Lavinia Damon Warren, their son Luther, and granddaughter Helen Warren Nethercut carried that legacy forward across generations. Helen and William R. Nethercut raised six children – Ruth, Bill, Marjorie, Don, Glen, and Bob – whose lives are woven throughout this collection. Family genealogy, personal reminiscences, correspondence, and photographs together paint an intimate portrait of Wauwatosa’s earliest years through the eyes of those who shaped it.
