October 6, from 10 am to 4 pm, join the Wauwatosa Historical Society's Tour of Homes "Metamophosis: Homes Reimagined!"

With a little imagination, “Metamorphosis” describes each of the homes and other buildings on this year’s eclectic tour. Certainly, the Alexander Eschweiler-designed buildings that formed the 1912 Milwaukee County School of Agriculture and Domestic Economy have been transformed. A sleek and energy-efficient modern bungalow sits where a condemned 1926 home was located just north of the Village area. And a 1870s house that was moved to its present location in the 1920s also has a new life as a multigenerational home. Celebrating the end of World War I in 1918, the Wauwatosa Historical Society has temporarily repurposed a home built that very year into a display of how Wauwatosans came together to support the country’s war efforts. And a glance at the front garden or roof demonstrates that one owner has morphed her home of 56 years into a “Pachyderm Palace.”
