Q: How did you become an artist?

A: I was a graphic designer and art director for about 15 years. It’s a demanding business and with a family including two small boys, I felt I needed a change to be available for them as much as possible. As luck would have it I was laid off from my job during the economic downturn and my vision of becoming a metalsmith was realized. I was making jewelry in the evenings and selling on Etsy but this change in employment status obviously made life much easier. Now I’m a self-taught jeweler and as time went by I worked hard on my skills and became a metalsmith. It’s definitely something I love and am learning new skills all the time.

Q: What do people like most about your art?

A: My designs are modern with a classic touch which makes my jewelry timeless. All the pieces I design and create have a story to tell. From where the stones originate, to cutting and hammering the metal, to soldering each piece. It's very rewarding to be able to share my knowledge and processes with my customers and they appreciate it.

Q: What are you most looking forward to at Firefly Art Fair?

A: It's my first year as an artist in the Firefly Art Fair. It's the show I attended years ago that inspired me to become a metalsmith so you can imagine how exciting this is for me! Seeing all the artists doing what they love is amazing. I prefer art shows over selling online because it's the best feeling in the world to be able to put a smile on someone’s face! The highlight for me is knowing that amazing women are receiving my handmade jewelry for special occasions. I especially think of them on Valentines Day, Mother’s Day and Christmas.
